Another shot

And I know that it wasn't love

but it could have been.

I'm sure at another time,

in another place,

it could have been.

Sometimes you meet a person you never thought you'd feel anything for. A person who was just a stranger to you but ended up occupying your head all the time. You don't think it's love but it's  not nothing either. You're stuck between the thought of maybe it could be something more than just a "like" but for some reasons, the time isn't right. You're secretly hoping this person is looking at you the same way your eyes shine when he's around. You want him to be the next one so bad. You look for him in the crowd. You steal glances on him every single time he's smiling. You still find him adorable even in his bad hair days. You want to take care of him. You want to hug him when you're feeling down. You want to run to him when you had a bad day or even, a bad dream.

But all of these scenarios are just mere daydreams because the time is not right. You are not ready for something more than what you have... or what you think you have. You want to give the world to him but he's too busy looking at the stars and you can't help but look at him from behind. Maybe, it's better this way. Maybe the only thing you can cling onto is the thought that the way he looks at you is different from the way he looks at other girls. The way he treats you is different from the way he treats other girls but it's not love because he's scared. He's scared to get hurt and you're too brave to risk everything you have for someone you think you like. He's probably scared of rejection and afraid that you might stray when someone new comes along because you always take risks. And all those fears he has are bigger than what he feels for you. And I'm telling you, now is not the right time. Maybe when you're both finally better and ready, what you both have will be more than just a thing. Maybe when you meet again at another time, in another place, you can give it another shot.
